Police reported they were notified by a individual who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Police then located many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement state early analysis show the fluid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any harm in association with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A senior representative said the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
